Former three-time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler has spoken out amidst speculation that his highly anticipated fight with Conor McGregor may be called off. Although McGregor has turned his attention to a grudge match with new BMF champion Justin Gaethje, Chandler remains confident that the fight will happen.
Chandler confident in the fight
Despite McGregor's recent Twitter tirades and interest in another opponent, Chandler believes the fight between him and McGregor "makes too much sense for it not to happen." He asserts that he is the most entertaining fighter in the roster and that fans are eager to witness McGregor's comeback in combat sports history.

Missing the deadline
McGregor's return was anticipated to headline the UFC's final pay-per-view card of the year on December 16. However, he recently failed to re-enter the United States Anti-Doping Agency's testing pool by the deadline. Nevertheless, the UFC can grant him an exemption to the six-month rule, so the fight could still potentially happen.
Seeking clarity
Like many MMA fans, Chandler is calling for clarity from the UFC regarding the status of the fight. He expressed the frustration of not having answers and how it leads to speculation among fans.

Confident in victory
Chandler is not only confident that the fight will happen, but also predicts a knockout victory within the first two rounds. Whether the fight will take place at Chandler's weight class or another is still uncertain.
This fight would mark McGregor's return to the octagon since his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier two years ago, in which he broke his foot. Since becoming the UFC's first simultaneous world titleholder in November 2016, McGregor has only one win to his name.
