MICHAEL CHANDLER's light showdown with Justin Gaethje is now in doubt after he said he won't get the coronavirus vaccination.
Gaethje, a three-time Bellator lightweight champion, will be taking on Gaethje in the co-main event at UFC 268 in New York on November 6.
The three-time Bellator lightweight champion isn't interested in getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Big Apple's mandate to vaccine indoor events has made the whole thing uncontrollable.
New Yorkers must have had at least one dose from the FDA-approved jab in order to be allowed to enter restaurants or large groups.
Chandler said that he doesn't intend to take the jab. He tweeted a fan, "I don’t want it." FDA approval or no.
"Real enough to you?" It is okay for people to get it. Each of us has a choice, and this is mine.
Recently, the UFC lightweight title challenger claimed that he would receive the vaccine once it was '100% FDA approved.
He stated to MMA Fighting, "It'sn't that I'm against the vaccine. It's not that he doesn't believe in vaccines.
"I won't get the vaccine until it is 100 percent FDA approved.
"We have hundreds of clinical trials. Just like my son, we have measles, chickenpox, and all the other vaccines that have been tested for over 100 years.
We will see. "I don't know what will happen."
At this time, it is unclear if New York's vaccination mandate will cause the UFC's plans to return home to Madison Square Garden to be canceled.
TSN recently heard from Dana White, president of the White family, that this could be true. She said: "I've told you guys a million time, I'm going where I can run an ordinary event."
"I stated that I would be the first, and I would perform the indoor sold-out arena without social distancing or masks.
"We did it. It was done in Florida. It was done in Texas. It was done in Arizona. It was done in Vegas.
"We are going to sell out again this Saturday in Texas.
"I don’t know what the future holds, or what’s going to happen while this stuff plays.
"I wasn’t ready a year ago.
"I'm ready to do anything. I don’t care about what happens, how it turns out, or how the different states manage their affairs.
"I'm ready for anything. "I have plans now."
The veteran promoter said, "If we can pull this off [in New York].
"We were supposed go to England, but that didn't happen.
"We are moving it to Vegas, and the plan is New York. But, if New York fails, I'll move it wherever it will."
