Poirier and Diaz reached an agreement to end their feud at UFC 270 next month, but they were unable to secure a spot on UFC 202's first card in 2022.

"Bring yourself back from death you suck DP"

Poirier and Diaz were 32-year-old and 36 years respectively when they were scheduled to face each other in the main event at UFC 230 in New York.

The eagerly awaited Madison Square Garden showdown between the two was canceled when Poirier sustained a hip injury.

Poirier, despite being a lightweight standout has been aiming for a welterweight matchup with the youngest Diaz brothers for nearly a year.

He said this during a January appearance on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast: "I think before my end fighting, I'm going fight 170."

"I'll fight Nate up to 170. For sure. Because of how it broke apart, I believe so.

He said, "Me and him were supposed fight at Madison Square Garden.

"I was kind of the fall guy. He points out that I pulled out of the fight, and I did.

"I went to get stem cell treatment on my hip.

"But I was going fight, I was going through a camp to fight him if they hadn't started offering me replacement opponents.
