Diaz faced off against Lawler with a stunning counter in the first round. This memorable fight was replayed many times in the lead up to fight night.
Lawler stated that his first stoppage loss was not a good one.
"He did an excellent job drawing me in and countering my right hand, which was what finished me off.
"But before that, he caught my attention with a nice one two down the pipe.
"It was only his night.
"I did some good stuff after that fight.
"When these things happen, and you lose it's time to ask yourself, "Okay, where are we going from here?" What can we do to make things better?
"That's what my life has been about and this fight was no exception."
Lawler is excited to finally settle the matter with the oldest Diaz brother. He is certain their Sin City showdown would be a great success.
He stated, "I see a good fight." He'll fight, and I'm going to fight.
"And the fans will get what they want. It's a great fight.
