Savannah Marshall, the current undisputed super-middleweight world champion in boxing, has made the switch to MMA by signing with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
A Bold Move
Marshall is the latest women's boxing star to transition to MMA, following in the footsteps of boxing legend Amanda Serrano and fellow boxer Claressa Shields, who was already signed with PFL. Marshall expressed her excitement about this new chapter in her career, saying, "I am thrilled to begin my journey in MMA with The Professional Fighters League. I am proud to join the most talented female combat sports athletes in the world and continue to raise the profile of women in sports through PFLW."

The PFL Format
The Professional Fighters League follows a seasonal format, comprising qualifying and knockout stages. Competitors in each weight class have two regular season bouts, earning points based on the method of victory. The top four fighters then advance to the win-or-go-home semifinals and finals, where they compete for a title belt and a $1 million prize.
Impressive Boxing Career
Marshall, 32, has had a successful boxing career, winning all four 168lb titles in July by defeating Franchon Crews-Dezurn. Her MMA debut is expected to happen in 2024.
A Potential Rematch with Shields
Claressa Shields, who holds a 1-1 record in MMA, previously defeated Marshall in their super-fight last September. With both now signed to PFL, there is a possibility of their rivalry being renewed in the cage. Shields responded to Marshall's move, saying, "She wanna be like me so bad. Congrats."
It seems that Marshall is determined to prove herself in the world of MMA, and fans will be eagerly awaiting her debut in the sport.
