Regular Season and Playoffs Explained
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) operates on a unique seasonal format, featuring qualification and knockout stages that culminate in a winner-take-all $1 million cash prize. Often referred to as the "Champions League of MMA," the league showcases stars across six weight divisions who compete in two regular season bouts to earn points based on their method of victory.
Regular Season
During the regular season, fighters accumulate points based on their performance in the first two bouts. Points are awarded as follows:
- Six points for a first-round finish
- Five points for a second-round finish
- Four points for a third-round finish
- Three points for a decision win
- One point for a draw
No points are given for a loss, and fighters who miss weight do not earn any points.
Playoffs
The top four fighters in each weight class advance to the playoffs, where they compete in a semi-final bout over three rounds. In the event of a draw, judges determine the fighter with the most complete performance. The playoffs lead to a five-round finale fight, with the winner taking home the $1 million prize and the championship belt for their division.

Where to Watch
In the US, PFL events are broadcast live on ESPN+ and ESPN. For UK viewers, the league has an exclusive agreement with the sports streaming service DAZN. British MMA star Brendan Loughnane is set to return to the PFL season this year.
