Short Notice and No Training Camp
Tom Aspinall, the new UFC heavyweight champion, has opened up about the challenges he faced leading up to his title fight against Sergei Pavlovich. Due to an injury to legendary fighter Jon Jones, Aspinall and Pavlovich agreed to a short-notice interim title bout with just two weeks' notice. However, Aspinall revealed that he hardly had any training camp for the fight and suffered a back injury early on. Despite the setbacks, the British fighter emerged victorious with a knockout in the first round.
A Wild Two Weeks
Aspinall described the past two weeks as the "wildest" of his life. In addition to his lack of training, he also faced visa issues and uncertainty about whether he would even make it to the fight. Despite everything going wrong, Aspinall persevered and came out on top.
The Dream Fight: Tom Aspinall vs Jon Jones
Now that Aspinall is the heavyweight champion, he has set his sights on a dream fight against American fighter Jon Jones. Aspinall expressed his desire to take a break for now but emphasized his goal of fighting Jones, whom he considers one of the greatest fighters of all time. Aspinall wants to test himself against Jones before both of their careers come to an end, and he implored for the opportunity to fight for his legacy.
