California's Ferguson returns to the UFC in the welterweight division. He has not fought in 170lbs since winning TUF in 2011.

"El Cucuy" was in Las Vegas speaking to media ahead of the fight at T-Mobile Arena, when he was asked about a possible match with Conor McGregor, an Irish megastar.

Although they have been linked in the past to fight each other, it has never happened.

McGregor is currently out of action following the terrible leg injury he suffered in his last-year's trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Ferguson dismissed Dubliner because he claimed he is the greatest fighter in the UFC.

McGregor was referred to by the Ultimate Fighter season 13 winner as "McNuggets" - he had lost his sauce.

"GOATS [Greatest ever] come and go, but BOATS stay floating - I am a BOAT – I'm THE BEST of ALL TIME.

"That's a title I won't lose, I'm always going to be the f champ. Nobody will ever do this for the sport like I have.

Ferguson said he is more than satisfied with the work he did for MMA.

He spoke about his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 249 and how he and the promotion helped bring back sport during the global pandemic.

UFC hosted the May 2020 UFC event, which featured Ferguson's fight with Chandler.

WME-IMG owned promoters held fight cards through the worst stages of pandemic. They set a standard for how to stage cards in a crisis.

He said, "I brought back sport for the world, and it took a lot more balls. It required teamwork - Dana [White, my manager], and anyone who was there for the last three days trying to figure what we were doing.

"And to see that, and from where are we now - we're pave the way for everyone - everybody loves and appreciates this sport, which I'm glad they do. This sport is hard for ***** men.

I can't speak for pro boxing, but I do see pro boxers training as hard as I do. You should love a competitive sport of high quality and figure out your goals. I know what I want to be doing.
