Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou PPV buys were 'TERRIBLE' and 'nothing close' to Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez's numbers

The pay-per-view numbers for the Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou fight have been described as 'terrible' by an insider.

Disappointing PPV Numbers

The crossover clash between boxing and MMA champions Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou aired on PPV internationally. However, despite the excitement surrounding the bout, it failed to live up to expectations as a PPV blockbuster.

A Comparison to Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez

According to professional wrestling and MMA reporter Dave Meltzer, the PPV numbers for Fury vs Ngannou were nowhere near the numbers generated by Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez. Meltzer notes that the numbers were possibly as low as 10,000 for TV orders, a far cry from the impressive figures of Paul and Alvarez.

Jake Paul's PPV Success

Boxer Jake Paul, known for his high-profile matches, claimed that his recent fight against Tommy Fury sold over 800,000 PPVs. Additionally, his win over Nate Diaz in August reportedly had around 450,000 PPV buys.

Canelo Alvarez's Strong Numbers

Canelo Alvarez, a prominent figure in the boxing world, had a successful PPV bout against Jermell Charlo in September, with reports stating that up to 700,000 PPVs were sold for that fight.

Conflicting Reports

Despite the criticism from Dave Meltzer, Turki Alalshikh, who staged and financed the Fury vs Ngannou fight, insists that it was a PPV success. Alalshikh claims that the fight will go down as one of the biggest pay-per-views ever, pointing to the global coverage and the number of DAZN subscribers as evidence.
