DUSTIN POIRIER & Charles Oliveira met for the first time this morning, just before their highly-anticipated fight for the lightweight title.
The UFC 269 main event will see the Lightweight King Oliveira face the former interim titleholder.
During the build up to the showdown, the two best 155-pounders on earth had not yet met.
However, that all changed Thursday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
As they answered questions from the media, the pair was cordial and respectful.
They engaged in a heated face-off soon after the end of the presser.
Victory over the Oliveira will see Poirier, fan favourite, become the undisputed leader of the stacked lightweight division at second attempt.
The pride of Lafayette, Louisiana believes that finally getting undisputed UFC Gold will forever be etched in mixed martial arts history.
He stated earlier this week that if he becomes world champion Saturday night, it would be the culmination of everything he had set out to do.
"I have set up my family, and we are in a good financial position. I have other businesses that aren't fighting.
"I must check that box [of becoming undisputed champ]." That's forever.
"I used to say that it took me 25 minutes to make my life fair. This is 25 minutes to make life fair, and 25 to make it last forever. This is what it is.
"You can't take it away." "Once a champion, always champion."
