UFC announces a blockbuster London event on March 19, three years after the capital hosted its last event

The UFC will return to London in March, their long-awaited return.

After a three year hiatus, the premier promotion of mixed martial arts will be back at the O2 Arena on February 19th for their 12th show in London.

UFC president Dana White stated to SunSport that the show was in doubt because of the Omicron case surge and the possibility for further restrictions.

However, the UK Government has allowed the MMA leader to make a comeback by easing restrictions.

White stated that it was an incredible experience to host an event in London.

"The fans are amazing, and the fights always top the charts.

"It's an entirely different energy in England. I cannot wait to go back with a fight card in March 19th.

The UFC was last seen in London in March 2019. Their final show before the pandemic was headlined by a welterweight match between Liverpool's Darren Till, and Jorge Masvidal, a fan favourite.

They were supposed to return to London in March 2020, but they pulled the plug six days before fight night due to the pandemic.

That card was to feature Tyron Woodley, former welterweight champion and Birmingham's pride Leon Edwards.

The pandemic did not stop fighters from the UK from participating in 2020 and 2021. In fact, the UFC went to great lengths to ensure that their strong roster was still active.

Four stints on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, were part of the promotion that kept international fighters busy. The island was promoted as Fight Island.

They've also held many events at their Apex facility near Las Vegas. However, it seems that they are slowly but surely getting back on the road.

Although a main event has not been decided on for March 19, a showdown between Till Hall and Uriah has been discussed.

SunSport has confirmed that preliminary talks between Arnold Allen of New Zealand and Dan Hooker have been held.
