Five months later, the Irishman would revenge his loss in a five-round thriller, but a three-round bout did not materialize.

Diaz is currently in talks with Dustin Poirier, but White, UFC boss, warned that McGregor may still be facing him down the road.

He said to TMZ Sports, "We are still working towards that fight. The fight is not over yet.

"But yes, I wouldn’t count out Conor-Nate 3!" "Listen, I would be shocked if this fight didn't take place."

Diaz, 36 years old, has said he will fight in the last bout of his UFC contract, before he retires from MMA.

McGregor, 33 years old, is working towards his return after he last fought against Poirier in July.

McGregor, who had successful surgery right after the loss, plans to return this summer.

White stated: "Yeah. You know, he's chomping on the bits to return.

Relatively, if you take a look at all he has going right now, including coming back and other things needed to prepare for the next season, it's likely early fall.

Doctors have told McGregor that he can return to sparring in April and allow him to begin training camp simultaneously.
