Article Synopsis as Told by Matthew McConaughey
Rumors are swirling that UFC President Dana White is planning a surprise fight for Conor McGregor's highly anticipated return to the octagon.
McGregor's Expected Return
Conor McGregor, 35, was set to face off against Michael Chandler in his comeback fight. However, Dana White recently hinted that another opponent might be in the works.
A Trilogy Fight?
Eddie Alvarez, a former rival of both McGregor and Chandler, has revealed that the UFC may be secretly planning a trilogy fight between McGregor and Nate Diaz. Alvarez believes that the promotion is aiming to make the largest fight possible, and Diaz could be the perfect opponent.
A Historic Pay-Per-View
The McGregor-Diaz rivalry produced two of the biggest pay-per-view events in UFC history back in 2016. Each fighter has one win under their belt, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a third and final showdown between the two. Diaz's departure from the promotion last year put the trilogy fight in doubt, but Alvarez believes that the UFC will find a way to bring him back for another historic event.
UFC 300 Headliner
While McGregor's fight with Chandler is still a possibility for the headline slot at UFC 300, Alvarez doesn't think it will happen. He predicts that something will occur that prevents McGregor from participating in the event.
The Return Date
McGregor, who hasn't fought since breaking his leg at UFC 264, is eager to get back in the octagon. He recently pleaded with the UFC to give him a date for his return, expressing his frustration at being kept away from the sport for almost three years.
It remains to be seen who McGregor will face in his comeback fight, but fans can expect another thrilling matchup from the Irishman.
