DANA WHITE revealed that he had a 'good chat' with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou about his future at a recent meeting.
Ngannou will face Ciryl Gane in the Octagon next month at UFC 270. Recent rumours suggest that this fight was his last.
Ngannou won the title of world champion in March
White, UFC chief, confirmed that Ngannou (34), does have one more fight in his contract, after the fight against Gane (31).
White said on podcast THE FIGHT WITH Teddy Atlas, "Francis and me bumped into one another the other night at dinner, and we had an enjoyable conversation, he's still under contract if that fight goes his way, but I believe he has one more fight left."
"I love this sport, and I say it all the times. Contrary to popular belief, we have made many people rich.
"If this isn't where you want to be, or if you don't like it, then that's not fun. These are all mature men and women.
"Everyone has to make their own decisions and follow their own paths. But I believe Francis and I had an enjoyable conversation."
He will be required to fight again if Gane beats him on January 22nd by virtue of the 'champions clause" in his contract.
Ngannou declined the UFC's offer to a new deal earlier in the year because of the low financial situation.
After being BORROW for a training camp, he was furious and now wants to follow the footsteps of former MMA stars.
White told Ngannou after contract disputes that he was free to resign from the promotion if it wasn't his desire.
White also echoed these words in his latest comments on the Cameroonian fighter.
The latest developments seem to have taken a positive turn after White's "good conversation" with Ngannou.
The 52-year old was vague on the details and stated again that fighters are free to leave if they so choose.
This could indicate that UFC heavyweight champ Ngannou, 6ft4in tall, has only two fights remaining in the octagon.
