Benoit Saint-Denis won his second UFC victory in Paris on Saturday, but it came at a price
The Frenchman sustained a terrible injury to his left foot in his TKO victory over Gabriel Miranda
Saint-Denis' left big toe almost split in two
However, it was costly as he sustained a terrible injury to his big foot on his left side.
After he scored a series kicks on Miranda, Saint-Denis nearly broke his left leg.
The blood began to flow from the toe, but Saint-Denis managed to overcome the pain barrier and win a dramatic stoppage victory.
UFC fans quickly commented on the horrific injury with one saying, "That looks like a piece tuna on his foot."
Another commentator said, "Looks like salmon on sushi."
Another said, "Bro, what's the matter? ?"
The Frenchman stated in his post-fight press conference that "after a few kicks, it split into two, almost." It's only the fight game.
"There is no perfect preparation. There will always be small injuries.
"It's part of the life of athletes so I will now take time to heal it."
Saint-Denis's toe was already damaged when he entered his most recent training camp.
He stated, "I couldn't lift my toe any more, but I wanted fight."
"We did no surgery. It was fine, but I did experience a lot of toes hitting the ground. It hurt a bit so I had shoes to wear.
"Just after my fight with Niklas I had surgery. I was able to train for the fight for three weeks, but I didn't have any sports for six weeks.
"It was the most difficult camp I have ever been to, because the first two weeks are the hardest because you don't train for long enough.
"I felt great the last week, but my toes were a little open.
Victory over Miranda pushed Saint-Denis' UFC record up to 2-1 since last October, when he made his debut.
