From Doorman to UFC Star
Mick Parkin, a former doorman, is still on cloud nine after making his UFC debut. Parkin, who signed with the UFC after a win on Dana White's Contenders Series, made his first walk to the octagon in July at the O2 Arena in London.
A Dream Come True
Parkin dominated American Jamal Pogues in his debut, earning a decision victory. Speaking about the experience, he said, "It was amazing. I always set my goals in my career. But I didn’t say to myself, ‘Just UFC’. It was great to finally get to the UFC."
From Bouncer to UFC Fighter
Parkin used to work as a part-time bouncer while training full-time. He revealed, "Doing security work on the weekends to be able to get by while I trained full time. I just did it Friday and Saturday night. I’m not like some of these guys who work a full-time job and train. That’s hard."
Looking Ahead
Parkin's second octagon fight will be against Caio Machado in Sao Paulo. He hopes to make a serious impact on the division in 2024 and is aiming for three or four fights a year.

Busy 2024
Parkin is hoping to have a busy 2024, with the goal of pushing into the top 15 of his division. He said, "The fights will start getting a little bit harder, but hopefully I can start pushing on to the top 15 and it slowly starts coming together."
