Jimmerson, nicknamed "One Glove," faced Royce Gracie at UFC 1 in Denver, Colorado, wearing only one boxing glove. He was the boxing representative on the card but was defeated by jiu-jitsu specialist Gracie in just over two minutes.

Former UFC referee John McCarthy praised Jimmerson for his bravery in testing his boxing skills against a new martial art. Gracie went on to win the UFC 1 tournament, while Jimmerson returned to professional boxing, finishing with a record of 33 wins and 18 losses.
