McGregor, who hasn’t fought since he lost his UFC 264 Trilogy fight to Dustin Pourier due to a horror leg injury, is yet to set a date for his Octagon return.

SunSport spoke exclusively with the former UFC heavyweight and lightweight champion. He also discussed his thoughts on the future.

According to the Louisiana native, Crumlin fighters will be toughened at 155lbs and welterweight by Crumlin fighters. However, he doesn't think he can recapture Championship-level form.

Cormier did not question the Irishman’s skills, but he asked if "The Notorious" really has the drive to try again after all the millions he's earned outside, and inside the Octagon.

Cormier stated: "Is Conor McGregor finished fighting - No, he will fight, he will fight - and Conor McGregor is capable of beating a lot more guys at 155 and 170lbs.

"But I don’t know if he can capture that surprising - youo, remember Eddie Alvarez's actions, and Jose Aldo’s.

"I don’t know if he could recapture that, but I don’t think it’s because of lack skill. It’s because he doesn’t need to.

"I believe Conor McGregor needed to make a change in his life and that of his family when he was given this assent.

McGregor is credited for his financial success.

DC believes McGregor's initial motivation was to improve his financial security.

He said: "I recall when he received fifty grand from Dana White. When he got a bonus. Conor McGregor would not blink at a fifty-grand bonus right now. But the excitement when Conor McGregor received that first bonus [In Stockholm] made me realize that he really needed this.

"He doesn’t need this [money] anymore - and I believe that was his drive to become what he is - that he needed change in his family - which he has achieved, with great success."
