UFC legend Jon Jones leaves Jackson-Wink to form a new training group as he prepares for his return at heavyweight

JON JONES officially announced that he was leaving Jackson-Wink's long-standing training team and has started a new camp.

Mike Winkeljohn and Greg Jackson coached Jones to two UFC Light-Heavyweight titles. This was the beginning of a remarkable career in MMA.

Winkeljohn suspended the American legend from Albuquerque's gym after he was charged with domestic violence.

Jones, 34, claimed that he never struck Jessie Moses, his fiancee, and said that he was temporarily banned by his gym.

In October, he tweeted: "Had an heartbreaking conversation with one of my longtime coach last night. Really hurts to lose support of someone that I respect so deeply.

"Sincere thanks to the coaches for supporting me in my fight. Our journey continues..."

Jones now confirms that he will train at Nick Urso’s gym. The former MMA coach to Jackson and Winkeljohn was Jones's mentor.

Urso's gym, which is affiliated with Jackson but not Winkeljohn, is an affiliate school.

Jones wrote on Instagram: "I would like to thank Nick Urso, Gym owner/coach and all the people at Jackson's MMA for allowing me call their dojo home."

"I was so proud of the gym's condition. It was so clean and it had a great energy.

Jones has not fought since defeating Dominick Reyes (31), in February 2020. He has been focusing on moving up to heavyweight.

Although he was in negotiations to fight Francis Ngannou, he failed to reach financial terms with UFC.

Ngannou, 35 years old, will instead face interim champion Ciryl Gane (31), for the undisputed title on January 22, 2022 at UFC 270.

Jones was recently training with coach Jackson and striking coach Brandon Gibson.

In a tweet, he suggested that he might fight Gane and Ngannou's winner of the unification bout.

Jones wrote: "It's only a few months now, can't WAIT to see who wins the fight in January."
