TOM ASPINALL isn't worried about the future if he wins this weekend, despite being right at the edge of mixing it with the elite heavyweight division.
The Wigan warrior will face Curtis Blaydes, a veteran heavyweight in UFC London's main event.
Tom Aspinall is just a few steps away from fighting for the UFC heavyweight championship
With a win against Curtis Blaydes at UFC London, the Wigan warrior could be in contention for title.
Aspinall refuses to consider what a win against Blaydes will do for his future
Aspinall has seen it all in his five octagon outings
29-year-old Aspinall has defeated all odds in his short stint as mixed martial arts premier promotion. He registered five wins in just 14 minutes and 24 seconds.
The Brit will be victorious over the No.4-ranked Blaydes, which will set him up for a title eliminator. However, Team Kabon's humble standout is refusing any other thoughts than the task at hand.
Aspinall stated, "I will accept it as it is." As I do everything else.
"You cannot guarantee the future. It's impossible to predict what will happen.
"I will cross the bridge when I reach it. But for now, I am fighting Curtis on Saturday. That's all that interests me.
"So please, no one else will ask me about fights. I don't care about any other fights." This fight is all I am interested in."
Aspinall's five octagon victories have shown that he can handle the weight of a lightweight and his footwork is impressive - something which has prompted the heavyweight division's big dogs to pay attention.
He insists that his best days are yet to come and says: "I just have so many things that I haven't shown."
"And people don’t know what they should expect. Nobody knows. Curtis and everyone else in the heavyweight division don't know what I bring because I haven't shown it yet.
"I have shown ten percent of my game. My octagon experience was short so no one has seen the full extent of what I can do.
"I have so many things that nobody knows about, which is a huge advantage for me."
Aspinall is the favorite to raise his hand in the second consecutive headline spot at The O2, but he's confused by the oddsmakers' assessment.
He stated, "This is my sixth UFC bout and I believe that Curtis is' 17th or 18th UFC combat."
"He has been among the top seven world performers for five years. I just broke into the top ten.
"And he beat everybody except for the two largest punchers in this decision.
"His record speaks louder than my own and I believe I have a lot to do. I don't believe I've accomplished that much. He's accomplished a lot more than I have.
