British star Aspinall was in pain after sustaining a broken leg in the early fight.

Blaydes, a UFC veteran who has fought a who’s who in 265lb weight division, was tipped by many as the most difficult test of Aspinall's tenure in MMA's premier promotion.

Aspinall was cruelly denied the opportunity to test his skills against the elite division members after sustaining a serious knee injury just seconds before the eagerly-awaited main event.

Blaydes, who was disappointed, said that it was almost as if they hadn't fought.

Aspinall was aggressive and scored a big body kick on the American.

Blaydes replied with a straight right stiff that caught the Brit's chin.

Aspinall, however remained in the pocket and continued to trade heavy-leather.

Blaydes was then able to extend the distance between him and Team Kaobon by landing a heavy leg kick.

Although the kick was flush on target, it did not appear to have any visible effects on Blaydes.

However, it did have an effect on Aspinall, who fell to the ground after he placed the mat back on the floor.

The man-mountain was in pain and waved his hands in front of him to indicate that he could not continue.

Referee Herb Dean did not hesitate to end the contest, much to the dismay of everyone at O2.
