NATHANIELWOOD hopes to be on the cusp for the featherweight top 15, with a win against Charles Jourdain.
The former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion will be back on Saturday night at UFC Paris' main card - only five weeks after he was last in action at UFC London.
UFC Paris will see Brit Nathaniel Wood back in action on Saturday night
Charles Jourdain will be facing the Londoner just five weeks after Charles Rosa's UFC London victory.
The Prospect wants to make a statement against fan favourite
Wood's fight with Jourdain, a fan favorite, marks his second appearance at featherweight. His first was a victory over Charles Rosa at O2 in July.
A similar performance against Jourdain would likely place him on the verge of joining the featherweight elite.
SunSport's Prospect stated that he believed so after a huge win. If I can finish him and do it in a spectacular fashion, that would put me nearly at the top of the rankings.
"So, I have to get out there and do the things I love best.
"And if my finish is nice, then that's a statement to UFC about where I should be in the 145lb rankings."
June marked the fourth anniversary of Wood's highly-anticipated UFC debut.
After his graduation from Cage Warriors, the Londoner had a great start in life as an octagon fighter. He won his first three matches.
The GB Top Team star has been 2-2 in his four last fights, but he insists he would not change a single thing about his experience in mixed martial arts' premier promotion.
According to the 29-year old, "I love every minute of it." Evidently, John Dodson was the fight where [I] was caught.
"It was close watching the fight back. "The last round was very close. If I had been inching in a different direction, I might have knocked him out.
"And the Casey Kenney fight? Man, I think that I won that fight.
"I don't feel bitter about it. But, don't look at the fight and say, "Yeah, we got smashed!" or something like that.
"So, I have been enjoying every minute. UFC looks after us, it certainly helps my bank account.
"It has been a great journey so far, and I look forward for the future."
Wood must first defeat Jourdain, who is currently 2-1 in his three previous fights.
Wood loves Jourdain’s action-packed fighting style.
He is confident that he will be one to two steps ahead of Canadians.
Wood is impressed by Wood's attack-heavy skillset, even though he sees flaws in his fan-friendly style.
He stated that a lot of what he throws with his striking can be very dangerous. There are many spinning shots and other such things. He leaves himself open.
He throws many shots and doesn't leave his chin where it [to be hit]]. He loves to kick his legs and is very skilled at doing leg kicks.
"But he left his leg there. "He leaves his leg there.
It's risk versus rewards. Although a lot of his stuff is highly rewarding, it can also be very risky. Jumping knees and that kind of stuff.
"If you miss it you will be in a bad place and I will capitalize on it."
Wood is determined to bag a PS43,000 bonus and a spectacular stoppage of the durable Jourdain.
He stated, "I see myself getting either a TKO or knockout win in the second round. Perhaps the third round.
"But it's going be a helluva fight, but I believe it. I hope Dana White has his chequebook in order."
