UFC lightweight Rafael Fiziev continued to climb the ranks by submitting a spectacular wheel-kickKO of Brad Riddell last week.
In the early hours Sunday morning, former Tiger Muay Thai training friends collided in UFC Vegas 44's co-main event.
Their eagerly awaited meeting was a success, with the two of them participating in a war for all time.
As Riddell was happy to fight with his back against the octagon fence, Kazakhstani Fizviev took on the aggressor role.
Just before the halfway point of the third round, he smashed the Kiwi with a perfect wheel kick.
Fizviev was able to stop Riddell from bleeding and started a series of academic strikes. Referee Herb Dean then called an end to proceedings.
MMA fans quickly reacted to the KO via Twitter. One simply said: "Nasty."
Another commentator said, "Wow, beautiful fight and what an amazing KO."
Another said, "Tiger Muay Thailand's best." This is Fiziev!
One person commented, "Fiziev is a remarkable striker.
His ability to change his stance in order to set traps is a sign of his high intelligence. He was soon regarded as one the most skilled strikers in the game.
Fiziev, 28 years old, said about the amazing finish: "I await this third round.
"When I put him in the cage, I noticed that he drops his hands every time he moves right. I was thinking that he needs to spin back or do a back-kick.
"I do spinning back-kick."
Ataman responded to further questions about his seventh career knockout: "I never find knockouts and I never attempt to make one. I have never believed this before a fight."
"I wanted damage from him, and I got it. Today, I went to my kitchen and tried to make something.
Fiziev was mixed after the fight, despite his win over City Kickboxing's Riddell.
He stated, "I don’t know if it’s sad or happy. It’s not good when your friend’s like that."
"Ofcourse, I'm happy. And sad. And happy." "I don't know."
