Ferguson was however badly injured in the first round. Blood poured down his leg.

Ferguson was called in to fight Diaz at the last moment after Khamzat Chimaev, Diaz's original opponent, had claimed that Diaz refused $2million for the fight. However, Ferguson was only seven-and-a half pounds short of the required weight.

The 38-year old was unable defeat his welterweight opponent and suffered a fifth loss in succession.

The injury shocked fans, one user on Twitter stating: "Tony Ferguson's foot is broken."

Another user said: "Nasty cut. Not sure what even opened that." Was it the check?

Diaz ended his 15-year UFC career and vowed to conquer any other form of combat sports.

After the fight, he stated that he knew nothing but that he had a love-hate relationship to the UFC.

"I did it today. The UFC is my favorite. Shout out (UFC President Dana White). I feel like I have the longest and most successful career in UFC.

"I want out of the UFC for just a bit to show UFC fighters how it's done.

"So, I'm going to go out and take over another job and be the best at it. Demonstrate to everyone that I am the best at this.

"Boxing, kickboxing and ju-jitsu... If you believe you are the best, you can find it right here. "I'm coming for your."

According to reports, Dana White's company has just signed an agreement with Hasbulla Magomedov, the internet sensation.
