JACK SHORE has a history of fights changing at the drop-of-a-hat. So taking on UFC's newcomer Liudvik Stolinian with just over a week notice is not a big deal for the bantamweight prospect.
Sholinian will be joining the undefeated Welshman at MMA's top promotion tonight at UFC Vegas 36 prelims at Las Vegas' Apex facility.
Tonight, Jack Shore, the undefeated fighter, will return to action at UFC 36 in Las Vegas.
Shore's second appearance of the year was to be with Said Nurmagomedov. However, Zviad Lazishvil was elected to replace him due to visa issues.
However, Lazishvil was injured and had to withdraw from the LFA. This allowed Sholinian, an Armenian-born Ukrainian, to take his place in the octagon.
SunSport spoke to Shore about the switch of opponents. "It's been simple, but it's not ideal. However, I have had to pull out of fights with very little notice.
"I just take it all in stride. It can be frustrating.
"But at the end, I'm still there, I have an opponent, and I can gameplan for any style. I will be there for him every night."
Shore enjoyed the match with Nurmagomedov, and the possibility of a win.
He stated that a win there would have put me in the position to fight someone in the top-15. It's not worth getting too excited about it.
The world is in chaos right now, especially when it comes to visas and other travel items. It is not easy to come from Russia.
"It's difficult enough for the UK, so I can see Russia being the same.
"But we still have to focus on him in front of us. What will happen after that?
Shore thinks Sholinian, despite being relatively unknown to most MMA fans should win a win against the Ultimate Fighter season 29 competitor and get into the bantamweight top-15.
He said, "I feel like it's still mine as I fight for the date I committed to." I haven’t complained about the pull-outs once and I’m ready to go.
"But I will fight anyone else, or two more fights. I won't cry about spilt milk.
The 14-0 Shore cannot be bothered to drink spilt milk after his brief, but successful, UFC stint.
26-year old said that overall, it was very positive. The lockdown made last year a bit slow. In March, I had to cancel a fight.
"And finally, Covid caused my November visa delay, which resulted in that fight being cancelled. But, I have the ball rolling again this season.
"Another win here would be two wins within five months.
"So it will put me in good stead next year. I've also fought with high-level men.
"I didn't come in expecting to have an easy time. I have fought three top-level men. I was particularly impressed by the last opponent. It has been positive.
"Hopefully we can keep the ball rolling, continue getting my name out there, and obviously get more attention as I rack up more wins."
The only way to keep the ball rolling is to defeat the tough and well-rounded Sholinlian who is currently on a four-fight win streak.
If Sholinlian's fights against TUF are any indication, Shore - who is currently 3-0 in the octagon -- will be in for an exciting war.
He stated, "I've seen Ultimate fighter stuff. He is a skilled wrestler. He puts a lot of pressure on himself and is very scrappy.
"He uses that kind of brawling style for his takedowns.
"I was unable to spar with him due to the short notice, but it is a style that I have fought before.
To be truthful, I have been there many times. Particularly on the domestic scene.
"So, I feel confident and comfortable. I don't think his style is too technical. Once the fight is settled in, I will be able find my openings to get my game moving.
Shore mentally prepared for a fight early doors, and hopes that it will lead to a brief night at work.
According to the Welshman, "I believe it's going be a quick, fast start."
"Obviously, he's going to come out and either want it to turn into a brawl or want to put pressure on me and put my back on him.
"But I believe I'm technically enough to settle him down. Keep my range. Once I do that, I believe I can find an opening to let him out.
"Whether it's on the feet or on the ground. It would be fantastic to finish in the first round.
"My last five fights were to the third round, and I have had four finishes and a decision in the third.
"So, a nice early one would also be nice. It will be a stress-free day for all the family.
"But don’t be surprised if it drags it out to the 2nd or 3rd like I usually end-up doing."
