McGregor will be the American's third meeting, according to McGregor.

Chimaev, however, was unable to lose weight as he weighed in at 7.5 pounds more than the welterweight limit.

It is unknown if the bout will go ahead as planned and, if so how much of Chimaev’s purse will be forfeited.

Despite Saturday's UFC 279 main event, Diaz is keen to fight McGregor in a three-way fight.

Diaz won the first encounter with the 34-year old Irishman, but lost the rematch.

He says that a trilogy will be made because "we aren't going anywhere".

Diaz stated to Inside Fighting that the timing is not right now.

"We'll think about that later. It will happen eventually. ... Yeah, at some point.

He needs to get back on what he's got to do, whatever that is.

"It's almost like when we match up, it's going to match up. We aren't going anywhere.

Diaz just launched Real Fight Inc., his latest fight promotion.

Because he believes the UFC is siding against Chimaev, he will promote Saturday's fight from his own platform.

Diaz stated that Real Fight Inc. brought him this fight.

"The UFC is clearly pushing their fighter against me - not with but against me.

"So, this is the first true fight event we have is right now, right there."
