The pair have had a few bumps in the past, and Davis claimed recently that he has only one fight on his current contract.
FightHype responded by Mayweather, who said: "Nothing lasts forever. Tank will always be my favorite. He is a good friend of mine. He is a son to me.
He must do the best for himself. I feel that I have done a fantastic job building him up and getting him into great fights.

Two weeks before Davis fights Romero, Mayweather will be back in the ring for an eight-round show.
On May 14, the American legend will face former sparring partner "Dangerous", Don Moore, on top of a Dubai hotel HELIPAD.
After beating Conor McGregor (33), in 2017, the five-division world champion retired with a perfect 50-0 record.
He has been back twice since then, against Tenshin Naukawa (23-year-old kickboxer) and Logan Paul (24-year-old YouTuber), who weighed TWO STEONE more.
Mayweather, 45, will face Moore, 42. His uncle Roger was his mentor.
