Anthony Joshua is not at all concerned that McCracken is representing Team GB at Olympics. He says 'it's good to have a larger team'

ANTHONY JOSHUA doesn't seem to be affected by Rob McCracken's absence as Team GB's Olympics coach. He said, "It's been great having a larger team."

McCracken is Joshua's trainer, the man who won him Olympic gold in 2012. The two are stationed at Team GB Sheffield HQ.

AJ is now preparing to fight Oleksandr Uzyk on September 25, but he has not yet met his head trainer. He is currently in Tokyo with the GB Boxing Squad.

Angel Fernandez, Joby Clayton and Joby Clayton are still part of the unified heavyweight champion's training program.

Joshua believes that McCracken's death has left him in good hands.

Sky Sports quoted him as saying that everyone brings something to the table. Vasiliy Lomachenko's father will be joined by Usyk. He is a co-worker with Russ Anber.

"I have a list with different nutritionists and strength- and conditioning coaches that he can bring to this fight.

"He is changing his staff because people have a wealth knowledge. It has been great to have a larger team and work together.

AJ faced the possibility of fighting with McCracken, for the first time since 2016, when he was in talks to Tyson Fury.

Joshua, 31 and Fury 32 had reached an agreement for a historic, undisputed four-belt title decider. It was held in Saudi Arabia on August 14.

McCracken would have been in Japan for the Games, which AJ was happy to do.

Eddie Hearn, his promoter, said that McCracken leads a great training team and has other excellent trainers.

"AJ's preparation takes place 365 days per year, not an eight-week camp. Rob will be absent for a few weeks.

"Actually we decided that AJ would accept any date for Tyson Fury's fight. Rob could still make it to Tokyo.

Rob is a huge part of AJ’s life and corner."

McCracken helped GB win a record six medals. Joshua proudly cheered on his gym-mates at home.

After Fury's arbitration case against Deontay Wilder, Fury lost the case to arbitration, the WBO ordered him to face Usyk (34), in a mandatory defense.

After his February 2020 loss, Wilder (35), won the right for a three-fight series against the Brit. This was in addition to the contract third fight.
