ANTHONY JOSHUA threatened to "dash” the heavyweight belts if he beats Oleksandr Uzyk.
After his defeat in September, the British star Usyk will be rematching him in Saudi Arabia on August 20.
Anthony Joshua threatened to 'dash’ the heavyweight belts against Oleksandr Usyk
AJ would be a rare world heavyweight champion if he beats Usyk, having already surrendered the title twice before.
The 2012 Olympic gold medallist suggested that he might snub the straps and demand more respect if the Ukrainian wins.
Joshua stated to JD Sports that he doesn't feel like a dominant heavyweight in his division.
"This big Anthony Joshua wins, becomes three times, I'm gonna dash these belts.
"Because I've got to learn to respect you as a person. This is what I meant. I am tired and don't want to get respected for the belts that I have.
"I want to be respected because you see the man I see."
Joshua, 32 years old, has vengeance against Andy Ruiz Jr. 32 in 2019.
He changed his style and became a boxer instead of a ruthless puncher who won him the crown.
AJ believes that he didn't get the praise he deserved while tearing through blue riband.
He stated, "When I entered this division it was whack.
"I thought, "Alright, you're right. "I thought, 'Alright, you know what?'
"It doesn’t matter who. I can only beat the person in front of me. But I have to make sure they’re top.
"Maybe it's because of my British heritage that none these people are respectful of my thing.
"I said, "Alright, you're right. "I said, "Alright, you know what? I'm going to bring the heavyweight division over to Great Britain. I'm going show people that we are solid."
"Because people think that we drink tea, eat biscuits, and sit with Queen Elizabeth."
