In his last fight, Billy Joe Saunders lost to Canelo alvarez

Saunders won 2015 the WBO middleweight title before swooping in for the super-middleweight title four years later. In a career that has been fraught with controversy, but which has also racked up a 30-1 record.

Rumours of his retirement were sparked by a serious eye injury sustained in his last fight against Canelo Alvarez.

A rematch with Eubank Jr., who won in a split decision in their 2014 contest could be possible.

Saunders stated to talkSPORT that the fans were supportive of him throughout the journey.

"It's a fan fight, but it's not one I would want or need to fight.

"I am financially secure, have done it all, ticked all boxes, from Southern Area to two-weight champion in the world.

"So, it's a fight I would be interested in if there was enough money and I would do it for the fans more than anything.

"I have kids now, and I've secured my future. But put them on a course and give them time.

With his victory in the capital nearly seven years ago, Saunders kept the European, British and Commonwealth belts.

The 31-year old suffered his first defeat in two professional fights. Eubank Jr will be facing Sven Elbir in November.

The rematch would be exciting for fans, but the ex-IBO champ stated that Saunders wants PS5million so they can fight.

Eubank Jr. claimed that: "The funny part is he's in no position to be demanding anything."

After saying that he would die before he took a knee in ring, Canelo quit against him and he now has no belt.

After an eye injury, a real one, he lambasted Daniel Dubois. Saunders was not wrong, he had a blackeye, but there was no smashed orbital bones, no broken eye socket and there was no evidence of that. It was all a joke.

"That's why the man has been MIA for the past few months due to the shame he felt about what he did.

He has no credibility and no power in the sport, so he can’t be saying that he wants PS5m. He’ll only get what he’s given. He will understand that I am the A-side, and then we can have a conversation.
