TYSON FURY, U.S. boxing promoter Bob Arum says he "saved" the fight after stepping in to ensure his client didn't face-off against Deontay Wilder at their press conference.
Arum, who is 89, was furious with Fox Sports broadcaster Kate Abdo and Kate Abdo because she suggested that the fighters would come together.
Arum claimed that Fox and Abdo both knew that a face-off would not be part of the press conferences - and he said Abdo was wrong for raising it.
Abdo brought up the possibility and Arum shouted "Not a good Idea!"
She quickly changed her mind, suggesting that Arum was the one who prevented the face-off from happening.
The promoter was annoyed and said, "They bring this lady in from the UK and they're slanting all of the press conference to Wilder."
"Like I don’t care a damn, it’s obvious what she was doing!"
"And then, she realized that the understanding was: No face-off. Fox and Tom Brown disagreed with each other. There was no face-off.
"We said, “No face-off.” What did she say? "Now, we're going face-off?"
"F*** her, f*** them. We saved the fight by not letting them face off.
