He was able to add the IBF from his WBC and WBA belts and became only one of six men ever to win all four titles.

Plant, aged 29, was beaten in his 22nd fight. He was taken to Las Vegas's local hospital for precautionary checks.

He later spoke out against his defeat and promised to come back stronger than ever.

Plant wrote: "I have bent the most of the world to mine will, and done so with passion and skill.

"I'll return I proved I belong at the top level and will be the champion of the world again.

"I have never been afraid to take on the world or stand tall with my shield. I am grateful to all my fans and supporters.

Canelo confessed that he never felt animosity towards an opponent before the fight, but later showed his respect for Plant.

He replied, "He wanted to go on. He said that there was no shame. Naturally, I won.

Caleb is a great fighter. He was a tough opponent, with a lot to fight for. I respect his abilities.
