Canelo Alvarez claimed that he would have defeated Floyd Mayweather, P4P GOAT's rival in his prime.

CANELO ALVAREZ claims he would beat Floyd Mayweather if he had been in his prime.

When Mayweather was only 23, the 32-year-old Mexican champion took on Mayweather, five-weight world champion.

Canelo Alvarez claimed that he would have defeated Floyd Mayweather, P4P GOAT's rival in his prime.

In 2013, Mayweather defeated a young Alvarez

He was outboxed extensively in Las Vegas, where Mayweather, now 36, won a decision victory.

Canelo has won four world titles since then.

Before his defeat to Dmitry Bivol in May, he was widely believed to be the pound for pound No1 before his loss to him. This was his first loss since Mayweather nine-years ago.

Alvarez believes he would have won the battle against the American if Alvarez was a more experienced professional.

He spoke to GQ Sports and said that he found it difficult to say, as Mayweather's face is never going to be the same again.

"But I am certain that in my prime, he would never beat us."

Canelo will be attempting to bounce back from his defeat to Bivol, a light-heavyweight. He will drop back to super-middleweight on Saturday to face Gennady Gorlovkin.

In 2017, the pair fought to a controversial draw - many believed Golovkin won.

They met again the following year, with Canelo winning a decision.

The legendary duo will complete a trilogy in Vegas this weekend, four years after their first appearance.

Alvarez is certain that he will defeat Golovkin.

Canelo stated that he wanted to punish Canelo for years of bad blood. He claims to be nice, but he isn't.

"He talks a lot about me, and that's something I don't like. Although he's a great fighter, as a person? I don't believe so.

"It's one the most significant fights in my life due to the rivalry, and this third fight will prove to be the most important.

"The rivalry has been going back many years, and I love the fact that it's personal. It motivates me to train like crazy.

"I listen to him but at the end of it all, he's just making excuses. I listen, but I don't take it too seriously.

"I don't like him lying when he talks in person. That is what I dislike. "I know that I won both fights. I have nothing to show."
