Carl Frampton warns Canelo alvarez about the 'dangerous fight' with Artur Betterbiev, who boasts an amazing 100% KO record

CARL FRAMPTON called the fight against Artur Beterbiev, boxing's KO king, a "dangerous" one for Canelo Avarez.

After 16 KOs in the same fights at light-heavyweight where he reigns supreme as WBC champion and IBF champion, Beterbiev has the remarkable record.

However, Canelo's fearlessness is so great that he opened the door for him to gain weight to take on the Russian danger man.

His status as the sport’s most popular attraction could allow him to dictate terms that suit him better, such as making Beterbiev shed precious pounds.

Frampton, 34: "You go up to light-heavyweights, and Beterbiev causes him problems. That is a dangerous fight.

"And if he accepts that fight, because it has been mentioned, it's a dangerous and dangerous fight.

"But I imagine that if it does happen, it would likely be a few lbs below light-heavyweight to suit Canelo."

His only loss in a career was suffered by the Mexican star, when Floyd Mayweather (now 44) used a similar strategy.

He put Canelo in the fight at a catchweight limit of 152lb instead of the usual 154lb light middleweight limit and cruised to a points victory.

Alvarez, now 23, has not looked back since that defeat. He won titles in four weight divisions and was promoted to light-heavyweight.

Super-middle: Canelo, 31, is currently the WBC, WBA, and IBF champion. He attempted undisputed glory against Caleb Plant this weekend.

He has already beaten Callum Smith (31), and Billy Joe Saunders (31) at 168lb.

Frampton now tips Plant (29), and David Benavidez (29) as the only remaining threats at the weight.

He stated that he had three super-middleweights before Callum Smith's fight. I believed they would cause him problems.

"One was Callum Smith, but he didn’t have any issues with him but I thought that he would." The other was Plant and we’ll see how that turns out.

"Another one was Benavidez. I think Benavidez gives him trouble. He's a young, dangerous punching Mexican fighter, and good fighter.

"I don’t know if it would beat him. I would bet Canelo, but he’d certainly give him problems."

Plant has won 21 of his fights and looks classy, but now he faces the greatest challenge in boxing.

Frampton supports Canelo in his discomfort, but he can't pick on the Mexican great.

Frampton stated: "It's a good fight. I think Plant will cause Canelo some issues for a while. But I think [Canelo] will figure him out and defeat him, potentially stopping him late.

"Maybe beat him in points, but I believe there will be some rounds, especially the first half, where Canelo's movement will cause him some problems.

"But [Canelo] will work him out, as he works them all."

Canelo v Plant will be shown exclusively by BT Sport Box Office live in the UK starting Saturday 6th November. For more info go to www.bt.com/sportboxoffice
