While most people considered it a masterclass in boxing, the youngest champion of the division had a different view.

Tyson, then aged 20, was the first to reign. He tweeted: "After watching Joshua vs Usyk fight. Maybe they had a bad night that night.

"Do you think that they could have beaten me in my prime based on that performance?"

Fury only responded to the comment now and posted: @MikeTyson, you would have (sic) chinned that pair of p ****s."

Tyson, 55 years old, made a remarkable return in November 2020. He drew in an exhibit with fellow American legend Roy Jones Jr., 52.

He promised to return and even opened up the possibility of a spectacular fight against Fury (33), or Joshua (32).

AJ, now 35, is set to rematch Usyk after his London loss last year.

Fury remains stuck in negotiations with Dillian Whyte, the mandatory challenger.

The purse split is set at 20% for Whyte (33), a decision that he appealed.

As the WBC confirmed the latest delay, it has seen purse bids continue to be pushed back.

They tweeted: "The @WBCBoxing received requests from both @Tyson_Fury and @DillianWhyte for an extension of the free negotiation period that has been granted."

"If there is not an agreement, a purse offering ceremony will be held on Wednesday 26 January."
