CHRIS EUBANK JR will win a fierce domestic battle with Liam Williams because of his long-distance relationship with Roy Jones Jr.
Eyebrows were raised when Chris Sr, the middleweight son and ring legend of Britain, visited the United States to train with the pound-for pound icon.
For the fight against Liam Williams, Chris Eubank Jr will have Roy Jones Jr
However, Eubank, a 32-year-old Brighton slugger, who previously refused to work alongside a full time coach, was forced to stay in Pensacola due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
A two-week trip became an 18-month epiphany.
Eubank Jr only had a few weeks to train with the four-weight champion in Cardiff's underground beachside gym.
He insists that the groundwork and bond formed will not be broken.
SunSport spoke with Eubank Jr.: "I never believed I needed a trainer, but I would still go to gyms in America -- Las Vegas or San Francisco -- or Dubai to learn from different coaches.
Roy and I clicked and our diverse personalities and lives have merged very well. I like it that way. I own homes in Brighton, Las Vegas, and Las Vegas.

"But when you are so focused on training, the surroundings don't really matter."
Roy may feel strange about the temperature at Brighton Beach in February compared to his home. But this is business and we have work to complete.
This will be Jones' third bout with Williams, whom Eubank Jr. has called a 'lowlife', scumbag, and cretin for his verbal abuses at him and his family.
The first two victories in 2021 did not get rave reviews.
Critics suggested that the Brit was caught between Jones' fast and unteachable speed, and his reflex-based boxing.
Eubank believes that his monk lifestyle will guarantee him at least six years more at the top. He insists that he still has time for learning and is happy to have his fight or flight instincts to fall back upon.
He said, "It is extremely difficult to change your fighting style later on in life. It is easier to be younger than you think.
It is easier to mold younger people. It is difficult to change when you are an experienced fighter, but it is possible. I am doing it right here with Roy.
"You can't change a 32 year-old. Your base and fundamentals will always be there when you are hurt or when things get difficult.
Jones also agreed with Jones that it was impossible for even the most skilled mentor to teach the most important element of a fighter's armory.
The 53-year old said that you can have any trainer you want, but it doesn't change who you are.
"Trainers are able to help build a fighter, but they can't make them fight. Every fighter must have their own heart.
"I can't give Chris heart, and Adam Booth cannot give that to Liam Williams." Chris already has it."
Liam Williams won't let Eubank Jr.'s most brutal performance deter him from Saturday's grudge fight.
In 2016, Nick Blackwell was forced to retire by Eubank Jr., and the Welshman stood in Nick Blackwell’s side.
Blackwell suffered a severe eye injury after the one-sided mauling. He was left with a large swelling and needed life-saving surgery.
Willams stated: "It's obviously very sad. Nick is my friend. It's the fight, and it could happen to you.
"I don't have to fight. I could sparring tomorrow. It could happen to anyone.
"If you keep getting punched in your head repeatedly, something will eventually go wrong," isn't that right? You just have to avoid it.
"When I became a professional, I knew exactly what I was signing up for.
"That's part the risk, so I'm willing and able to take that chance. If something were to happen while I was wearing the ring, I would do what I love. It's okay.
Williams, a father-of-one, feels that his opponent had an advantage in boxing because of Chris Eubank Sr.'s success.
He said, "We come to this world from very different places."
"I had no help, so I started in small hall shows. You can achieve anything if you put in the effort.
