Chris Eubank Jr. will be waiting at the O2 for him on October 8

It will be 29 years since Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn clashed in their first bout, which ended in a stunning draw.

Conor shouted, "This fight was for the legacy and it was an opportunity that I could not pass up.

"My team and me had other options as I am currently ranked number five by all governing bodies at Welterweight. I have no doubt that I'm interested in a fight for the world championship.

"But this fight is infused with so many history and I know it's one that the public really wants to see.

"To me, this fight is personal. It's more than rankings and titles. This is unfinished business between our family.

"Born Rivals is the ideal calling for this fight because we have always had an association and I've been asked if we would ever fight.

"And now, I can't wait to see the world watch as we make that happen.

"All that I know is that this will be an all out war, last man standing type of fight.

Here's the scoop on bitter British rivals in advance of their London clash

"Neither one will quit until the last bell rings. This will be explosive and I won't look to score points. This is what I am all about.

Eubank Jr., 32, failed to win a major title at super-middle weight or 160 lbs middleweight.

Canelo, a Mexican money machine, has not shown any interest in a fight and Eubank Jr left a Gennady Gorlovkin fight in 2016.

Eubank Jr. will be taller and heavier even with a strict rehydration provision in place.

He cannot afford to lose against his less experienced and smaller opponent.

Eubank Jr. said, "I grew to watch their legendary battles and I always wanted to emulate them and find my arch nemesis."

"Could this be Conor Benn?" We'll find out.

"He has been on the same journey as me. I understand his struggle.

"Living under the shadow of legends and trying to make his own name.

"If he beats me, his name is made and he will never walk again in the shadow of his father."

"It's a fight which's going to spark interest in the British public, that is what I'm proud of. It's my biggest fight in terms of hype, legacy, and anticipation.
