The Power of Johann Duhaupas
Deontay Wilder, known for his knockout skills, recently opened up about the hardest punch he has ever taken. Surprisingly, it wasn't from Tyson Fury, the man responsible for Wilder's two professional losses. Instead, Wilder revealed that Frenchman Johann Duhaupas hit him the hardest.
A Knockout Artist
Wilder, with 43 knockout victories out of 46 bouts, is no stranger to delivering powerful punches. So when asked by TalkSPORT about who comes closest to him in terms of power, many would have expected his answer to be Fury. However, Wilder's revelation about Duhaupas left fans surprised.
French Connection
Wilder had a momentary lapse in memory when trying to recall Duhaupas' name, but eventually remembered and confirmed that the Frenchman's punch was the hardest he has faced in his career so far. Wilder and Duhaupas faced off in 2015, with Duhaupas managing to withstand Wilder's power for quite some time before succumbing to a TKO in the 11th round.
The Road to Redemption
After losing his WBC belt to Fury in 2020, Wilder is currently on the comeback trail. He is set to face Joseph Parker in a bout in Saudi Arabia on December 23, with a potential fight against Anthony Joshua in March on the horizon. Wilder is determined to reclaim his title and prove his power once again.
