There are growing concerns among boxing fans that Tommy Fury's next fight could end up being a lose-lose situation for all parties involved. The former Love Islander, who previously defeated YouTube stars Jake Paul and KSI, has now entered talks with a 54-year-old boxing legend.
Tommy Fury's Recent Victories
In 2023, Tommy Fury emerged victorious in fights against Jake Paul and KSI, solidifying his status as the king of the crossover scene.
Following his controversial win over KSI, the 24-year-old traveled to Saudi Arabia to support his brother Tyson, who also secured a contentious victory against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou. During his time in Saudi Arabia, Tommy struck a deal to face American great Roy Jones Jr.
Negotiations Underway with Roy Jones Jr
Roy Jones Jr, who turned 55 in January, is widely regarded as one of the best boxers of all time. He held titles in four different weight divisions, including heavyweight. Despite boxing well into his 50s, he made a comeback in 2020 for an exhibition match against Mike Tyson.

Now, Jones has confirmed that negotiations with Tommy Fury are underway, as he seeks to secure a substantial payday in Saudi Arabia. Jones stated, "Saudi Arabia at the moment will probably pay what I'm looking for to make an exhibition happen. Dealing with the Saudis, I'll say that I'm 75 per cent sure this exhibition happens against Tommy Fury."
Fans Express Concerns
The news of the potential fight has left many fans feeling uneasy. One fan expressed, "Not one person comes off well out of this." Another commented, "Someone should go to prison if that fight is made." There were also calls for Jones to retire, with one fan saying, "Roy my favorite fighter of All Time... Please stop fighting."
Possibility of Fight in the UK
If the financial terms in Saudi Arabia do not meet expectations, Roy Jones Jr has left the door open for a potential exhibition match with Tommy Fury in the UK. He believes that his strong fan base in the UK would generate enough interest to stage the fight. Jones stated, "Would I really say no to that? I believe people in the UK would support that fight. I've got a lot of fans in the UK, and I think they'll have enough fan exposure to get some interest in staging that."
