FLOYD MAYWEATHER once more indicated that he would like to train Anthony Joshua in preparation for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
With a calm performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, September, the former champion unified heavyweight lost his belts against the Ukrainian.
They will face off again in the new year, but Eddie Hearn revealed that shock talks have been held which could lead to Joshua stepping aside.
However, he may try to reclaim his WBA and IBF, as well as his WBO. Mayweather could be in his corner if he does.
Mayweather suggested that he might consider splitting with Rob McCracken as his coach. He said, "I told him right from the beginning, he came and I could give him some pointers.
"A lot of times, this is just me, the same coach that you had as an amateur does not always make you great professional.
"Some guys excel at amateur coaching while others excel at professional coaching. My dad was the best at professional coaching.
"At the amateurs he was teaching us like a professional. So I'm going speak real, whether people like it.
"I feel like Anthony Joshua. They're going to different coaches, and saying 'this Coach is going to work for him.'
"But, I told him when he was unbeaten that he had some things he needed to improve on. Otherwise you might come up short."
Joshua and Mayweather are friends. Mayweather said that he would be happy to assist in any all-British blockbuster starring Tyson Fury.
AJ's defeat to Usyk has ended that - at the least for now.
Now, Hearn has revealed that Oleksandr Usyk's side are in discussions about stepping out of the rematch.
Promoter said Fury is instead aiming for a fight with the southpaw to win his WBC belt.
