Ngannou's Epic Troll
Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight, couldn't resist taking a jab at Tyson Fury after their recent crossover fight. Ngannou shared a side-by-side photo on social media, comparing himself throwing a punch at Fury to a scene from The Simpsons. In the episode, Drederick Tatum dominates Homer Simpson in the boxing ring, and some experts felt that Ngannou did the same to Fury.
Boxing Experts Weigh In
Boxer Chris Eubank Jr stated that he believed Ngannou won the fight, as he was the aggressor and landed heavier shots, even scoring a knockdown. Carl Froch, another fellow fighter, didn't score the fight but felt that Ngannou had the edge, especially after the knockdown in the third round.
Fans and Gary Lineker Cry Foul
Many fans agreed with Ngannou's supporters, claiming that he was robbed of the victory. Even England football legend Gary Lineker called it a "robbery" on Twitter. While one judge did score the bout in Ngannou's favor, the other two officials ruled in Fury's favor with scores of 96-93 and 95-94.
Fury's Response
Despite the controversy, Fury landed more punches than Ngannou and believed he deserved the win. He acknowledged that his timing was off and attributed it to ring rust, as he had been out of the ring for nearly a year. Fury admitted that it was not one of his best performances and that he needed to move forward and continue.
