Michael Benson, talkSPORT's Twitter account, confirmed that Gervonta Davis had vacated the WBA'regular belt' at super-lightweight. This leaves Josh Taylor as the undisputed champion in the division.
"Gervonta decided to keep his WBA regular' belt at lightweight, so a fight against George Kambosos Jr. could be in the cards soon."
After beating Teofimo Lopez in late December, Kambosos Jr won the WBA, WBO, and IBF world lightweight titles.
Split decision won the surprise win for the Aussie.
One of their most cherished records could be ended if Davis and Kambosos Jr meet.
American is 26-0 and won 24 by knockout. Kambosos Jr. is 20-0.
Davis, who has been called the most exciting fighter since Mike Tyson, would be most likely to be the favorite to win the fight.
SunSport spoke with Leonard Ellerbe (CEO of Mayweather Promotions): "There are a lot of great fighters out here with the ability create excitement for the fans.
"You cannot just place it on one fighter.
"There isn't just one fighter that stands out to me that I can recall recently, but Mike Tyson. We all know who Mike Tyson is.
"The most important thing about Tank's career is that he has been able to attract people to his events and get them to support him."
They can either attend his live events, or watch them at home. He's undoubtedly the most exciting fighter in all of the sport.
"People gravitated towards him, and when you look at the younger generation of fans out, they talk only about Tank Davis.
"Gervonta has placed himself in a position that he must-see TV. And you know why?" Because he delivers exactly what the fans want.
