GERVONTA DAVIS and Isaac Cruz will now meet after Rolando Romero was removed from their lightweight showdown.
Davis was scheduled to face Romero, the undefeated Romero, for the WBA (Regular), lightweight title on December 5. However, Davis was removed from the bout following a series of sexual assault allegations against him.
Gervonta and Rolando Romero were scheduled to clash on December 5,
Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports' chief executive, called the reports "disturbing", but initially resisted pulling Romero.
FightHype was told by he: "Obviously these are disturbing allegations. Very concerning.
"At the moment we are still monitoring the situation and trying to discover all the facts.
"And until it feels like we have a solid grasp, we're not going to comment further. But it's something we're very serious about."
Mexico's Cruz will now face Tank after Cruz resigned from the promotion.
Mike Coppinger, an ESPN reporter, first reported the news. He tweeted: "Sources. Isaac Cruz has agreed for a fight with Gervonta Davies on December 5th in Los Angeles on Showtime.
"The lightweight Mexican contender will replace Rolando Romero who was removed from the bout following being charged with sexual assault."
Cruz, 23 years old, will be entering his showdown against Davis riding an 11-fight winning streak stretching back to November 2017.
After the Floyd Mayweather protégé Davis' high-profile bout, multiple women accused Romero of assaulting them all.
A 24-year-old Nevada woman has filed a complaint against Romero in Henderson Police Department. She accuses him of assaulting her at his Las Vegas home in 2019.
Romero maintained his innocence right from the beginning, but Showtime decided to take him off next month's card.
He stated that despite the fact that the allegations against him are false, he would prove it through the legal system.
"I understand that it is in everyone's best interests that I do not participate in the next pay-per view event."
Former WBA interim 135lb champ, has promised to return quickly to the ring once he's cleared his name.
He stated, "After clearing my name, I will return the ring as quickly as possible."
