He was eventually forced to leave the grudge match due to a broken rib, chest infection and other injuries.

A month prior, Fury, the heavyweight champion, was posting a clip in which he dropped a medicine ball onto Tommy's stomach.

Paul, 24, claims that Tommy could have been affected by the exercise to increase core strength.

On the MMA Hour, he said: "I have seen footage and who knows it's possible. It's possible to break a rib.

"When I do that drill, we take precautions and are cautious because there have been stories about fighters getting hurt while working on their abs."

Paul beat YouTuber "AnEsonGib", ex-NBA star Nate Robinson (37), and Ben Askren (37).

His biggest victory was against Tyron Woodley (39), in eight rounds. Tommy beat Anthony Taylor (32) and this was Tommy's largest win.

It was the start of a mega-fight that Tommy quit. Woodley, an ex-UFC champion, signed as his replacement.

Tommy's father John claimed that a 17-stone "idiot" broke Tommy's ribs with a punch to the 'bare knuckle.

Ricky Hatton, a British boxing legend, assured Fury that he would have been able to prevent injury using the medicine ball. This squashed Paul's theory.

Hatton stated to The Metro that there was speculation that the injury may have been caused by the training sessions they saw in which Tyson bounced medicine balls off Tommy's stomach at the gym.

It is possible. Floyd Mayweather Sr did a similar thing to me.

"He was driving the medicine balls into my head with all he had, and I was 10 stone 8, which I thought was pretty f***ing insane.

"I was all skin, bone, and he was smashing it into my ribs with all his might. He could have broken my rib with 100 percent!

"But Tyson has enough experience to know what he was doing. He would have done it at the right speed.

"But even the smallest tickle on the ribs could cause problems. You don't have to give it a big punch.

"All it takes is a little bang in a weak spot, it's so easy that we don't think it's worth speculation so much."
