KAMARU USMAN said a UFC boss Dana White would make a UFC-caliber crossover fight with Canelo alvarez 'the greatest fight ever'
Usman has been calling out Mexican boxing's superstar for years. He is currently the undisputed super-middleweight champion.
UFC fighters cannot compete outside the promotion, unless they are granted a special exemption.
Conor McGregor (33), was allowed to fight Floyd Mayweather 45 in 2017. However, he lost it after ten rounds.
UFC's No1 rated UFC fighter Usman wants to fight Canelo in a similar match and White was encouraged to join.
He said to BT Sport, "Well, these conversations are still being had.
"But, you're aware, like I've already said, this fight is the greatest and most important fight in the history combat sports.
"And that's why we've got the biggest and most baddest promoter in the history combat sports, Dana White behind us."

He stated, "Mexican Independence Day is, I believe it's only fair for me and Canelo give the world a spectacle, give them the entertainment they desire."
"You know what, I've said before, it can only be done until someone does it. He's a great champion and I respect him.
"I must show him respect, but he should also show me that respect."
Canelo refused to rule out a crossover fight, but claimed Usman is just after a payday'.
On the MMA Hour, he said: "Maybe. Why not? You never say no. It's impossible to say no.
Canelo said, "It's not really in my mind. I want to leave a lasting legacy in my career. We can discuss other matters later.
