Kell Brook's win over Amir Khan was a huge success for Sky Sports PPV buys that are close to Anthony Joshua's numbers

KELL BROOK's long-awaited grudge fight with Amir Khan has been a huge box office success, with numbers that are similar to Anthony Joshua's.

Many laughed at the idea that PS20 would be spent to see the ex-world champion 35-year-olds finally risk their reputations.

Others were willing to pay any price to finally see their bitter rivals settle their bitter dispute, which lasted nearly two decades.

Sky Sports and Boxxer, who have lost Eddie Hearn to DAZN, are now searching for new stars.

It turns out that fan-favorites from the past were worth it as Brook and Khan surpassed all other Sky shows.

SunSport spoke with Ben Shalom, promoter: "The buys speak louder than the words. It was something that captured the nation's attention."

It blows away everything else, except for the highest AJ numbers.

"It's the largest fight Sky has ever seen, other than the heavyweight division. It's also a domestic fight.

"It was amazing, obviously a lot people talked it down but it was clearly an important fight for British boxing.

"And the numbers were, as a I said, akin to AJ figures. You don't see them except in the fights for the world heavyweight titles.

Joshua, 32, sold more than 1 million PPVs through Sky Box Office, while Khan's and Brook's totals have not yet been released.

Brook's six-round demolishment of Khan by Brook was evident for all to see, earning him bragging rights for his brutal style of living.

Khan's performance and the result leave Khan staring in retirement, which would bring an end to a distinguished career.

Brook is ready for at least one more big-money payday if he is open to trading what would be his final fight.

Shalom stated that "Kell is currently in the number one spot." He has many options, and everyone will want him to be defeated.

He could retire today and feel great, but there are other options available, which he will explore. We will consider what is best for him right now.

"I believe he has had an amazing experience with me and an incredible promotion with us, and there are now options for him.

"I'm very happy for him. Perhaps his career was not managed in the best manner and he took fights that he shouldn’t have, at the wrong times and weight.

"We believe we did everything possible to give him this fight, and the promotion that he deserved. He worked his a*** off.

"He spent six month in the gym, and he came out victorious. He'd probably tell y'all that this was as important for him as beating Shawn Porter for his title world champion."
