The 56-year old is optimistic that AJ, who suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time in a professional career, will be able to have more "big fights" in near future.
Lewis tweeted: "Great fight from Usyk. Congratulations on your win. You definitely earned it.
"Good showing by AJ too... don’t worry. We still want to see big fights.
Lewis says that this is the right time for Tyson Fury and Usyk to face off for the heavyweight title.
Fury, the last undisputed champion of the division, urged Fury not to retire and give the fans what it wanted.
Lewis said: "Hey Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, can we finally give our fans an UNDISPUTED WW Championship fight?"
Fans deserve 19 years of great music! Let's get cracking!
It seems that a unification bout could be possible, as Fury suggested that he would return in the ring to face Usyk.
This morning, the Gypsy King stated that he would be open to returning to the ring in order to regain his heavyweight titles.
Fury stated in an Instagram post that he had just witnessed Joshua lose to Usyk for the second time. He was clearly out of his depth.
"However England has been freed from its belts. As usual, it happened again.
"There is a solution and a remedy that I can recommend.
"Send in the Gypsy barbarian from England if you want those belts back. Get on board!
"Send me in. "I will release the Ukrainian dosser from his belts as I did the last Ukrainian one.
It's not going to be cheap. It's going to be expensive if you want the best.
"So, get your f***ing checkbook out and I'll relieve that Ukrainian dosser."
