Manny Pacquiao has announced his official retirement from boxing
The pride of the Philippines has officially ended his Hall-of-Fame career.
On Wednesday morning Pacquiao tweeted the following video, with the caption: "To all the greatest fans, and the greatest sport of the world, thank-you!"
"Thank you so much for the wonderful memories. It was the most difficult decision I have ever made but it is one that I am happy with.
"Chase your dreams and work hard. And watch what happens." Goodbye boxing.
The video features an emotional Pacman saying: "As my boxing gloves are off, I want to thank everyone, especially the Filipinos, for supporting Manny Pacquiao." Goodbye boxing.
"It is hard for me to accept the fact that my time as an amateur boxer is done." Today, I announce my retirement."
Pacquiao, 42 years old, is a fan favourite and has won 62 of 72 bouts during his professional career. He began his professional career as a 16-year-old fresh-fashed boy.
The soft-spoken power punch fell short against Floyd Mayweather, in which he was defeated unanimously.
He said, "Thanks for changing my life. When my family was in dire straits, you gave us hope, and you gave me the opportunity to fight for my freedom."
"Thanks to you, I was able inspire people around the globe. You gave me the courage to make a difference in more people's lives.
"I will never forget the things I've done and achieved in my life. It is something I cannot imagine."
"I just heard that final bell. The boxing match is over.
"I never imagined this day would come when I put down my boxing gloves."
Pacquiao has given up on politics to concentrate on his bid for the presidency in his home country.
The senator declared his intention to run for office after he said, "I am a fighter and I will always fight inside and outside of the ring."
"I accept your nomination to be president of the Republic of the Philippines."
He isn't going to take any chances when it comes down to fighting corruption in his country.
He stated, "I am here to serve my countrymen, not myself." I will fight for the rights and dignity of the poor.
"I want to eradicate corruption in the country while I am in government."
