AMIR Khan hopes he has the secret weapon to beat Kell Brook in trainer Brian "BoMac" McIntyre'.
The American knows plenty about the Brits, and is well-versed in their history before they meet.
Amir Khan has joined forces with Terence Crawford's trainer Brian "BoMac" McIntyre
McIntyre, a professional fighter who won seven fights, trained undefeated WBO champion Terence Crawford to win against the Brits.
Khan, the Bolton star, has now been taken under his wing. This is partly due to Khan's wife Faryal Makhdoom who trained Khan in Omaha and Colorado, USA.
McIntyre should be an advantage for Khan.
McIntyre coached Crawford to a spectacular fourth-round KO by Brook in November 2020 at an empty MGM Grand Las Vegas.
After his defeat to Crawford in April 2019, Khan decided to let the past be forgotten.
Khan was able to be withdrawn from his corner in controversial fashion after six rounds.
After being hit in the fifth, he claimed that he couldn't continue. However, many laughed at his claim and the Brit was given a lot of abuse.
McIntyre has written a book called "The Art Of The Jab" and Khan is his guiding light. He wants to end years spent trash-talking and defeat Brook.
The Nebraskan man believes Khan can do exactly what Crawford did to stop Brook.
Sky Sports quoted him as saying: "After seeing the way Crawford treated Kell, I believe Amir can do it the same."
"Brook will do whatever it takes to win. This is what we call the storm.
"Once you get over the storm, it's downhill from there." After that, it's all downhill.
"You have to mentally prepare yourself for it. We say in the corner: "This is the storm we discussed in the gym."
McIntyre certainly put Khan through a tough training camp. McIntyre has seen Khan, 35 years old, run around snow-covered mountains while encouraging him from his car.
Khan was sparring for four minutes, rather than the three-minute regulation time, and McIntyre allowed only 30 seconds between rounds.
American revealed that Khan's wife Faryal was the one who 'got in touch with one of their trainers' and that they eventually teamed up.
Boxing Insider was told by him: "Another man had reached me on Instagram so we kinda got together and spoke a bit."
"He came to Omaha for about a week to have some conversation, sort out the business, and to try and train us for a bit. It went very well.
"A couple of weeks later, we headed out for Colorado Springs and he arrived there."
McIntyre believes he has all the tools to help Khan beat Brook. McIntyre has already beaten the Sheffield hitter.
He said, "I figure if Kell Brook can beat me once, then I can beat him again." It was an easy decision.
McIntyre has worked with Khan to improve his close-quarters fighting, which he believes is key to beating Brook.
After leading Crawford to victory against 'Special' K, McIntyre won't be stopped. He was 2-0 ahead on Saturday night.
