He soon had two knockouts in the same number of fights, ending with a stoppage against James Westley II.
Westley landed a big right hand early in the fight but was then dropped with a similar shot in round three.
Nico, 21 years old, won the victory to increase his record to 2-0.
After the pro debut, he said that he was happy with it. I still have a lot to do.
"I can see the excitement in the crowd when he lands a punch, but I didn't feel it.
"Maybe it's my energy, adrenaline, but I owe him and his team my hat." It was a great fight that involved mutual respect.
"I am blessed to be following the legacy of my grandfather. Everyone who loved my grandfather is watching me."
Rasheda Ali Ali, Ali's mother, was there to support her son as he made a great start to his career.
Nico is a super-middleweight competitor, three divisions higher than heavyweight where his grandad reigned.
He is trained by Javan "Sugar Hill" Steward, the nephew of Hall of Fame coach Emanuel.
Steward recently cornered Tyson Fury (33), to two consecutive KO wins over Deontay wilder, 36.
